12 Weeks Old

Jacob turned 12 weeks old on Wednesday. He's a whopping 6 pounds 2 ounces and 18 inches long.

Jacob had a little stomach virus this week. I could tell something was wrong with him because he was acting pretty fussy and was whining a lot, that's not my boy. Jacob is usually very mellow, likes to be held but when he's not held he'll lay in his bed looking around and very content. Then I started to notice that every time I changed his diaper there was stool and the stool was starting to look yellowish and and runny. Normally Jacob will stool once maybe twice a day but it was like 8 diaper changes in a row. During my 4 am pumping/check up on Jacob phone call the nurse told me she found some blood in his stool and that he was getting his stomach x-rayed. They x-rayed him again at 7am and didn't find anything. They then took a sample of his poo to get it analyzed to make sure it wasn't something bad. Jacob continued pooing and was really tired and fussy. But by yesterday he was back to his nice pleasant self, if not a little tired. The poo culture came back negative and he went back to pooing twice a day. The nurse said sometimes they have to keep in mind that kids just get sick or have stomach aches, they are so used to it being something bad they test everything.

We are still working on bottling him. I've discovered that when he makes up his mind about something he's set. Jacob is up to 55 mls every feeding almost 2 ounces. When he's tired and wants to go back to sleep he will not take anymore of the bottle. And it's so strange when he decides he's tired because he'll be wide awake, you stop him to burp him and after he let's out the burp he's ready to sleep regardless of how much he ate. He also seems to be sleepy at 7pm, that's when Mike feeds him b/c that's the time he can make it after he gets off work and comes to the hospital. Mike's attempts have not been stellar since Jacob will drink for about 10 minutes and fall asleep. It you try to make him eat he'll have a spell, I swear he's doing it on purpose. If Jacob doesn't finish his bottle we put the rest of his food in the feeding tube and he gets fed that way. I swear he knows that too because after the nurse starts the feeding tube Jacob will smile. He's going to be so naughty.

A couple of more weeks and it will be his original due date. I am really hoping we'll be able to bring him home by April 10.
