Super Human Smelling Ability

I have now acquired a super human ability to smell stuff. And let me tell you it is not a super power I want. My office is right next to the room where we keep the mini fridge and microwave. Normally the smell of people heating up their lean cuisines and left over spaghetti does not bother me, but now that I can smell chicken from across a restaurant the combination of reheated Chinese food, canned soup and various microwavable dinners is too much for me to handle. Thank god I have a door. Hopefully people don't think I'm being anti-social.

On a random note, I saw that my mother-in-law is on facebook. I would like to know who created a facebook page for Mo Nguyen? Do I "friend" my mother0in-law? What is facebook etiquette?

Food Aversions

We might have to check scallops off the list of things I can eat. Rather than food cravings, I have had some really bad food aversions. I can no longer stand the smell of chicken, which sucks because I used to eat chicken almost every day. The other day a friend and I were at lunch and I had to leave the restaurant because the person at the next table was eating chicken and I kept gagging. I was eating scallops yesterday the first one was delicious then I tried to eat a second one and could barely get it down.

I may have to go vegetarian before the end of the pregnancy. Poor Mike.

2nd Trimester

We are officially in the 2nd trimester! I now have a noticeable baby bump, at least I think it's pretty noticeable. People who don't know the news yet are probably questioning if I'm pregnant or just putting on extra weight. I dare anyone to ask!!

I've noticed myself rubbing my belly when I'm sitting on the couch. Mike just looks over and laughs at me. It seems like my belly has really taken shape this weekend. Mike and I were being lazy on the couch yesterday and I said to him that we won't be able to do this very much longer. No more lazy Sundays for awhile.

We are still deciding who gets to take the late shift and the morning shift. I think he should take both. The man doesn't sleep anyways so he's not missing out on anything. I get cranky if I don't get at least 8 hours of sleep.

Bathroom Frequency

OMG can I pee anymore? I've always had a small bladder but this is ridiculous, I am going to the bathroom every hour now! I can't even make it through the night without having to go at least three times.

I know I shouldn't complain too much since I'm not experiencing morning sickness, but I am going to anyways.

Maternity Clothes

I bought my first two pairs of maternity pants this weekend. They are fabulous!! The most comfortable pants I've owned in a long time. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. I may not go back. Who wants the hassle and constrictions of buttons and zippers when you can have the ease and comfort of elastic?

Please be a good friend and tell me no when I start eyeing moo moos.

Walking

Apparently I am a heavy walker. I was at my mother-in-law's house for banh xeo (yummy!!) and her friends commented that I walked too heavy and that it wasn't good for the baby. Odd because my mom told me I was a heavy walker a couple of weeks ago. Who knew?

Caffeine Free

I have been officially caffine free for 5 weeks! I know, I know I didn't think I could do it either. The first couple of days was awful. The first day I didn't drink coffee I had to attend a meeting on how transportation projects are determined in the state, we stared at a power point presentation for 3 hours. I couldn't concentrate and wanted to fall over I was so tired.

By day three I honestly didn't think I could make it. That's when I decided maybe I could trick myself by buying decaf coffee, wrong!! It's nice to have something warm to drink in the morning but there's no tricking my body who has had daily cups of coffee since high school. It's still a little difficult to get going in the morning but lucky for Mike I am not a raging b*tch that everyone though I would be without caffeine.

I do look forward to that first cup of coffee after having the baby though. Sacrifices you have to make, I guess this is one of many I will have to make in the future. Going to miss a world where its all about me.

First Doctor Visit

I had my first official baby related doctor appointment today. I was given a clean bill of health which is a relief due to some early scares. The doctor was able to find the baby's heartbeat, unfortunately for me, I could not tell the difference between its heartbeat and mine.

The doctor said they estimate that I am 10 weeks and 2 days along and that the due date is around April 10. I had lots of questions really because everyone keeps telling me what I can and cannot eat and can and cannot do. According to the doctor, everything in moderation so please stop telling me that I can't eat this or that.

I have also been given the go ahead to exercise. Since my mom demanded I "take it easy" my daily routine consists of going to work, coming home and napping for an hour, eating dinner and then sitting on the couch for the rest of the evening. This has made for a very restless camper.

I am now up 2 pounds and was told that I should gain somewhere between 20-25 pounds throughout the pregnancy. When asked when do people start gaining weight the doctor said it depends some people don't gain any weight the first trimester, uh no, no good for me gotta stop indulging in the cupcakes.

First Blog

This is our first official blog!

As of today we are 10 weeks along. Dr. says that we are due approximately April 11! And fortunately, we've had a pretty easy going for trimester. No morning sickness, no weird cravings, except for the fact that this kid seems to want to be a vegetarian. I seem to want to nap every day but really that isn't anything new, except now Mike can't give me a hard time about it.

Sadly I am beginning to outgrow my pants. This maybe be partially due to me sitting on the couch every day for the last month "taking it easy" as my mom's instructed. My coworker showed me a nice trick with a rubber band that will buy me a couple more weeks before I start breaking out the maternity wear.

Can't wait till week 20 to find out the sex of the baby. I tried starting a baby registry but found out it's pretty hard to register for things if you don't know the sex of the baby. Gender neutral things are pretty boring, you can only do so much cream. And don't tell me green is gender neutral, it's a boy color.

Alright I'm done for now.
